The series "Dutton Ranch," a spinoff of the acclaimed television series "Yellowstone," premiered on May 15, 2025, on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network. The series has already been renewed for a second season.

The first two episodes of "Dutton Ranch" were released on May 14, 2025, on Paramount+ and aired on May 15, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Paramount Network. Subsequent episodes are released weekly on Fridays at 12 a.m. PT / 3 a.m. ET on Paramount+ and air at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Paramount Network. The first season consists of nine episodes, with the finale scheduled for July 3, 2025.

Paramount+ reported that the first two episodes accumulated 12.9 million views within seven days of their release, surpassing the previous record of 8.8 million views set by "Mobland" in 2025. The linear broadcast averaged 2.9 million total viewers, according to Nielsen data.

Premise and Setting

The series is a sequel to "Yellowstone." It follows characters Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) after the events of the original series. The characters relocate from Montana to South Texas after their ranch is destroyed by a wildfire. They purchase a property in the fictional city of Rio Paloma, Texas, to build a future away from the events of the original series.

According to the official logline, they "collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire."

The narrative involves conflicts with local rancher Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening), who is protecting her family's 190-year-old property.

Chad Feehan created the series and served as showrunner and executive producer for the first season. The series is based on characters created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson.

Christina Alexandra Voros directed multiple episodes, including the premiere and season finale. Other directors included Greg Yaitanes, Jessica Lowrey, and Phil Abraham.

Showrunner Change

Chad Feehan will not return as showrunner for a potential second season. The departure was reported prior to the series premiere. According to a report from Puck, Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Taylor Sheridan, and 101 Studios head David Glasser were unsatisfied with Feehan's handling of production after completion of the first season. No replacement showrunner has been announced as of the renewal announcement.
