Maley Set for Crows Debut

Adelaide recruit Finnbar Maley is set to debut for the Crows against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday.

Key forward Taylor Walker stated that Maley's inclusion is part of a strategy to utilize two rucks. Maley is anticipated to play as a secondary ruck and also in a forward role. Walker described Maley as a competitive player who can create contests and win the ball.

Thilthorpe's Evolving Role

This selection will likely result in Thilthorpe, who has previously served as a back-up ruck assisting Reilly O'Brien, spending more time closer to goal.

Lachlan McAndrew also filled O'Brien's position earlier in the season, recording 38 hitouts against the Western Bulldogs, with Thilthorpe contributing seven.

During a previous game where Thilthorpe was involved in stoppages, the Bulldogs established control of their defensive 50. James O'Donnell, Buku Khamis, and Rory Lobb combined for seven goals against Adelaide's Darcy Fogarty and Walker.

Coach's Rationale

Maley was acquired by Adelaide from North Melbourne in October. Coach Matthew Nicks has opted to utilize Maley due to his versatility as both a marking forward and a secondary ruck, rather than O'Brien.
