South Australian Labor Unveils New Cabinet Appointments

The new Labor Government in South Australia has announced three new members for its front bench. Nadia Clancy MP, the Member for Elder, Michael Brown MP, the Member for Florey, and Alice Rolls, the incoming Member for Unley, will all join the cabinet. Rolls was recently elected to parliament.

These appointments fill crucial positions left by former Tourism and Multicultural Affairs Minister Zoe Bettison, former Arts and Small and Family Business Minister Andrea Michaels, who retired, and former Human Services Minister Nat Cook.

Assistant Ministers Appointed

In addition to the cabinet reshuffle, Lawrence Ben, the incoming Member for Enfield and a former economics adviser to Premier Peter Malinauskas, along with Sarah Andrews, the Member for Gibson and former state director for Professionals Australia, have also been appointed as Assistant Ministers.

Premier Outlines Government Priorities

Cabinet roles were determined at Labor's first caucus meeting. Premier Peter Malinauskas conveyed a clear message to the newly elected MPs: focus on action, making decisions, and being pro-economic and pro-business for the state's benefit.

The Premier stated the government's approach is to "get on with the job."

Outgoing Ministers' Significant Contributions

The departing ministers each brought extensive experience to the front bench. Zoe Bettison previously served for 12 years, holding various portfolios in the former Weatherill Government. Nat Cook served eight years, including as Minister for Human Services and Minister for Seniors and Ageing Well. Andrea Michaels, who resigned from parliament, served six years, including as Minister for Arts, Consumer and Business Affairs, and Small and Family Business.

Premier Malinauskas noted that Bettison and Cook would continue to contribute their experience to the Parliamentary Labor team.

Swearing-In Ceremony Scheduled

The new Malinauskas Government Ministry is scheduled to be sworn in at Government House at 10:45 AM on Wednesday.
