Kuwait Thwarts Hezbollah-Linked Terror Plot Targeting Officials
Kuwait has announced the arrest of a group reportedly affiliated with Hezbollah, stating that a terror plot targeting leaders and senior officials in the Gulf state had been thwarted.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed on Wednesday the arrest of six individuals, including five Kuwaiti nationals, who were part of the group planning terror operations.
Expanding Network Identified
The ministry further indicated that an additional 14 people located outside Kuwait were part of this extensive network. These individuals include five Kuwaitis, five others whose Kuwaiti citizenship was recently revoked, two Iranians, and two Lebanese.
This network was accused of targeting state leaders and recruiting individuals for assassinations.
Confessions and Escalating Concerns
Suspects reportedly confessed to receiving advanced military training abroad and have since been referred to the public prosecution.
This announcement marks the third instance in less than a fortnight regarding the arrest of individuals linked to Hezbollah for plotting attacks in Kuwait. Hezbollah, an Iran-backed Lebanese militia, is designated as a terrorist organization by the US and Australia.
