IDF Commando Killed in Southern Lebanon; Casualties Mount
Golani Commando Killed Overnight
Staff Sgt. Ori Greenberg, a 21-year-old commando, was killed in combat in southern Lebanon overnight, the IDF reported. Greenberg was a member of the Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit and hailed from Petah Tikva.
The military stated that Golani reconnaissance troops engaged terrorists in their operational sector at approximately 2:10 a.m. During the subsequent close-range exchange, Greenberg sustained fatal injuries. Another soldier was wounded in the incident but did not require evacuation. Israeli forces reportedly killed some of the terrorists involved and are currently conducting further searches in the area.

Widespread Casualties Reported
This incident involving Staff Sgt. Greenberg is part of a series of casualties reported in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours.
Two soldiers were seriously wounded during combat in the region. Separately, an officer sustained moderate injuries from friendly fire. Additionally, an officer and 13 troops were hospitalized due to concerns of hypothermia; one was in moderate condition, with the rest in light condition.
Details of Wednesday Evening Attacks
On Wednesday evening, a reservist was seriously wounded by rocket fire targeting forces inside Lebanon. In the same attack, another soldier and a reserve battalion commander received light wounds. All three individuals were transported to a hospital for treatment.
In a separate event later that Wednesday evening, another soldier was seriously wounded by mortar fire aimed at troops in southern Lebanon. An officer and two additional soldiers received light wounds in this attack and were also evacuated to a hospital. This incident occurred around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, involving Golani combat team forces positioned deeper inside Lebanese territory. They were conducting searches along the first line of houses when a mortar shell struck their position. Their comrades returned fire while evacuating the wounded.
Military Outlook and Hezbollah Claims
Military officials anticipate an intensification of incoming fire as Israeli forces consolidate their positions in parts of southern Lebanon. Most attacks thus far have been from a distance, with fewer direct confrontations with Hezbollah.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 95 operations on Wednesday, which included attacks on Israeli forces and launches into Israel.
This figure represents the highest number of operations the group has reported for a single day.
