NBC Sports Apologizes for Incorrect Tiger Woods Crash Visuals
NBC Sports issued an on-air correction and apology after inadvertently displaying incorrect visuals of a Tiger Woods car crash during its Saturday broadcast. The error occurred during the network’s studio show, which preceded its third-round coverage of the Texas Children’s Houston Open. While discussing Woods' recent arrest for DUI, the broadcast showed images from his high-profile Southern California accident in 2021, rather than the incident that occurred on Friday night.
On-Air Correction Issued
Lead play-by-play announcer Dan Hicks addressed the mistake late in the broadcast.
"Before we came on the air today, our studio inadvertently showed the incorrect picture of the car crash Tiger Woods was in. It was another previous car crash. It was not the correct one — the latest one that was yesterday. We apologize for that and just want to straighten that out before we go any further."
Details of Woods' Recent Incident
Woods' recent incident occurred on Friday afternoon on Jupiter Island. His Range Rover clipped the back of a work truck’s trailer and subsequently rolled onto its side. No individuals were injured in the incident. Woods, who exited the vehicle from the passenger side, was later charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
