Trump Addresses War Crimes Concerns
US President Donald Trump addressed concerns regarding his previous statements about potentially attacking Iran's energy sites, bridges, and other infrastructure, and whether such actions could be considered war crimes.
During a White House event, when questioned by reporters about attacks on power plants potentially breaching the laws of war, Trump stated, "I'm not worried about it."
"I'm not worried about it. You know the war crime? The war crime is allowing Iran to have a nuclear weapon."
International Red Cross Calls for Respect of War Rules
Concurrently, Mirjana Spoljaric, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), issued a statement on Monday. She called on governments to refrain from making deliberate threats, either rhetorical or in action, against civilian infrastructure and nuclear facilities.
Spoljaric emphasized that "States must respect and ensure respect for the rules of war in both what they say and what they do."
