Battlefield 6 Content Roadmap: Seasons 3-5 Announced for 6
Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have unveiled a detailed content roadmap for Battlefield 6, covering Seasons 3 through 5 in 2026. The announcement includes new maps, game modes, features, and the introduction of pre-order options for the Season 3 battle pass.
Battle Pass Pre-Orders: A New Industry Move
"Pre-ordering battle passes is uncommon in the gaming industry."
EA and Battlefield Studios now allow players to pre-order the Season 3 battle pass approximately two weeks before its May 12 launch. Two tiers are available:
- Standard Pass: 1,100 Battlefield Coins (approximately $9.99) — includes immediate access to the Verdant L110 Weapon Package
- Battlefield Pro Version: $25 — includes two weapon packs
The feature was first reported by a Reddit user and later confirmed by IGN.
Player reaction has been mixed. Some have noted that Call of Duty does not offer battle pass pre-orders, while others pointed out that Apex Legends — also published by EA — has allowed the practice. Players with existing Battlefield Coins from previous seasons described the option as convenient, since completing a battle pass typically grants enough coins to purchase the next one. Critics noted that EA has not disclosed the full contents of the Season 3 battle pass, and that digital passes do not have limited stock.
Season 3 (May 6): Remastered Maps & Ranked Mode
Two Remastered Maps
Railway to Golmud
- A reimagining of the Battlefield 4 map Golmud Railway, set in Tajikistan
- Described as the largest map in Battlefield 6 — approximately four times the size of Mirak Valley
- Features updated visuals, reworked play areas, and updated audio
Cairo Bazaar
- A remake of Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar, now set in Cairo
- A smaller map with vehicle access — though not the full vehicle roster available on Railway to Golmud
Ranked Mode for Redsec
Season 3 introduces a Ranked mode for Redsec, the game's free-to-play battle royale mode. Initially, Ranked will be available only in Quads format. The developer stated the experience will evolve in future seasons based on player feedback. Rewards include chevrons, EXP boosters, and cosmetic items.
Season 4 (July 6): Naval Warfare Focus
"Season 4 is planned to focus on naval warfare."
Key Features
- Aircraft carriers with optional flight decks
- A dynamic wave system affecting player aim
- New naval-based vehicles
- Naval challenges with rewards
Two New Maps
Wake Island (Remastered)
- An updated version of the Battlefield 5 classic, designed for large-scale sea and air combat
Tsuru Reef (New)
- Set in the Pacific
- Described as having more room to fight than Railway to Golmud and stated to be the largest map in Battlefield 6 upon release
- Available for testing in Battlefield Labs prior to full release
Other features planned for Season 4 include custom lobbies and spectator mode.
Season 5 (Fall 6): Three-Map Holiday Treat
Season 5 will include three new maps — a temporary increase from the typical seasonal map count. A teaser image featured oily water. Developers stated this three-map release is viewed as a holiday treat and is not expected to be a recurring pattern. Specific themes or locations for these maps were not confirmed.
Additional Features Planned for 6
Several features are scheduled for release throughout 2026:
- Server browser with persistent servers (planned before end of 2026)
- Proximity chat
- Platoons
- Multiplayer leaderboards
- Spectator mode
- Reworks of two existing maps: New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields
Balance tweaks are planned to roll out throughout the year.
Developer Insights
"Getting content right takes time for balancing."
Ryan McArthur, Ripple Effect executive producer, stated the team's priority is to address player concerns while ensuring they have the experiences they want.
Roman Campos-Oriola, Motive senior creative director, noted the team has a willingness to revisit classic maps but also wants to add new maps and unique level design experiences. He acknowledged that earlier seasons had an over-index on smaller or medium-scale maps, and that Seasons 3 and 4 aim to deliver broader, larger-scale experiences for all-out warfare and vehicle combat.
Philippe Ducharme, Motive executive producer, confirmed vehicle access on the smaller Cairo Bazaar map.
