Iranian Official Warns of Strait of Hormuz Restrictions Over US Blockade
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that transit through the Strait of Hormuz could be restricted if the United States does not lift its blockade of Iranian ports. He made the statements during a broadcast on Iran's state television.
Ghalibaf described the US blockade as an "ill-judged and misguided decision." He emphasized that the strategic Strait of Hormuz is under Iran's control.
"If the blockade is not lifted, transit through the Strait of Hormuz would be restricted."
Warning on Mine-Clearing Operations
The senior official issued a specific warning regarding potential US operations in the region. He stated that any American mine-clearing activities would be considered a breach of the ceasefire.
Ghalibaf stated that Iran would strike if such an action were taken.
