He passed away on April 19 due to a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills.

According to reports from Deadline and TMZ, the cause of death was a heart attack. His death certificate listed the immediate cause as a myocardial infarction, with underlying factors including pulmonary embolism and hereditary coagulopathy.
His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, stated that his partner, Miriam Rothbart, found him unconscious on the bathroom floor after he took a shower. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Born on September 27, 1968, in San Pedro, California, Muldoon graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991 with a degree in English and communications. He also played football for the university.
Career
Muldoon’s career spanned four decades and included nearly 100 credits. His early television work included appearances on Who’s the Boss? (1990) and a recurring role on Saved by the Bell (1991).
- Television: He originated the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives (1992–1995; 2011–2012) and played Richard Hart on Melrose Place (1995–1999). Other TV movie credits include Chain of Command, Project Viper, and A Boyfriend for Christmas.
- Film: In 1997, he played Zander Barcalow in Starship Troopers, directed by Paul Verhoeven. Other film roles include Stigmata (1999), Bad Karma (2001), Born to Ride (2011), Spiders 3D, and Saving Christmas.
- Production: Through his company Storyboard Productions, he produced The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Dreadful, and Riff Raff. He was a producer on the upcoming feature Kockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth, currently filming in Australia.

Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and his niece and nephew, Halo and Arrow Zappa.
Burial
Muldoon was cremated on April 28.
