Patrick Muldoon, Actor Known for Days of Our Lives and Starship Troopers, Dies at 57
Patrick Muldoon, an actor and producer known for his roles on television series Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place and in the film Starship Troopers, died on April 19. He was 57 years old.
His manager confirmed the death to Variety, and Deadline reported the cause as a heart attack.
Career and Recent Work
Muldoon originated the role of Austin Reed on the daytime drama Days of Our Lives, playing the character from 1992 to 1995 and reprising it from 2011 to 2012. He had a recurring role as Richard Hart on Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996. In 1997, he played Zander Barcalow in the film Starship Troopers.
His other acting credits included early television appearances on Who's the Boss? and Saved by the Bell, as well as roles in films such as Born to Ride and Spiders 3D.
Through his company, Storyboard Productions, Muldoon served as an executive producer on several films, including The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Dreadful, and Riff Raff. He was a producer on the upcoming feature Kockroach, which is currently filming in Australia.
His latest acting role was in the crime thriller Dirty Hands, which is scheduled for release later this month.

Patrick Muldoon was born on September 27, 1968, in San Pedro, California. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991, where he played football. He was also a musician and served as the lead singer for the band The Sleeping Masses.
He is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart; his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shana and Ahmet Zappa; and his niece and nephew, Halo and Arrow Zappa.
