Carrie Bickmore Announces Indefinite Leave of Absence Due to Vocal Cord Condition
“My vocal cords are in poor condition and risk permanent damage if not treated.”
Carrie Bickmore, co-host of the Hit Network's Carrie and Tommy show, announced on Monday that she is taking an indefinite leave of absence to address a vocal cord condition. Bickmore stated that she consulted an ear, nose, and throat specialist, who informed her that her vocal cords are in poor condition and risk permanent damage if not treated. She expects to be off air for a few weeks.
Update: Two Weeks Off Air
An update on Tuesday, May 18, confirmed Bickmore has been off-air for two weeks due to the recurring issue. She posted a photo on Instagram Stories from a hospital bed with the caption: "OK voice . . . time to come back . . ." She did not specify whether she was awaiting surgery or receiving other treatment.
Previous Health Issue
Bickmore has also been recovering from a facial injury sustained in April. She reported on Instagram that she "walked into the corner of a wall," sustaining a gash on her forehead. She stated that the injury hit a nerve and was healing poorly, though she later said the cut was "healing nicely."
Background
Bickmore has co-hosted the Hit Network radio show with Tommy Little since 2017. She previously co-hosted The Project from 2009 to 2022.
