Dyson Launches Compact Travel Version of Its Supersonic Hairdryer
Dyson has unveiled a new, smaller version of its popular Supersonic hairdryer, designed specifically for travel. The new model, called the Supersonic Travel, is priced at $299.99.
According to Dyson, the new travel model is 32% smaller and 25% lighter than the original Supersonic hairdryer.
The device is engineered to automatically adapt its voltage for use in different countries. It also remains compatible with the styling attachments from the original Supersonic model, allowing users to maintain their styling routine while on the go.
A Decade of Hair Care Innovation
The launch comes ten years after Dyson first introduced the original Supersonic hairdryer at a price of $400. Since then, the company has significantly expanded its presence in the hair care market.
Earlier in 2024, Dyson released the Supersonic r model, priced at $569.99. This version, initially targeted at professional hairstylists, featured a slimmer design and RFID-enabled attachments that automatically adjust heat and airflow settings.
A Crowded Market of High-Tech Hair Tools
Dyson's hair gadgets, celebrated by beauty influencers, have inspired a wave of similar products from competitors. Shark entered the arena with its Flexstyle, while beauty giant L'Oréal introduced several high-tech tools, including the Colorsonic hair-dye wand, the AirLight Pro hairdryer, and the Light Straight flat iron.
Beyond hardware, Dyson has broadened its hair care line to include multiple versions of the Airwrap styler, the Corrale straightener, and the Airstrait wet-to-dry straightener. The company also now offers a range of complementary products like hair oils, serums, styling creams, and scalp treatments.
