Lake Havasu City, AZ — Storage Wars Star Darrell Sheets Found Dead at 67

Police are investigating allegations of cyberbullying as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Darrell Sheets, a longtime cast member of Storage Wars, was found deceased at his home on April 22, 2025. He was 67 years old.

Officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department (LHPD) responded to a call regarding a deceased individual at Sheets' residence on Chandler Drive at approximately 2 a.m. on April 22. Upon arrival, officers found Sheets deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheets' body was turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner's office for further investigation. The LHPD Criminal Investigations Unit has assumed the case, which remains under active investigation.

Allegations of Cyberbullying

Multiple sources, including co-stars Laura and Dan Dotson and Rene Nezhoda, have stated that Sheets experienced what they described as cyberbullying prior to his death.

Laura Dotson reported to Us Weekly that Sheets' family indicated the alleged cyberbullying had been occurring for three years. Dotson stated that Sheets expressed fear for his life and for the safety of those around him, and that he did not understand why he was being targeted.

LHPD Sergeant Kyle Ridgway confirmed that the department is aware of the cyberbullying allegations and that they are part of the active investigation. In a statement, Ridgway declined further comment due to the ongoing nature of the case.

In January 2023, Sheets filed a police report with LHPD alleging he had received online threats. In March 2025, Sheets posted on Facebook alleging that his account had been hacked and that an individual was posting content under his name, which he said led to threats against him. In a subsequent post, Sheets named an individual he claimed was cyberbullying him, writing:

"Well people here is my cyber bully stalker just letting people know if anything happens to me this him."

Background and Career

Darrell Sheets was born on May 13, 1958, in California. He appeared in 163 episodes of Storage Wars on A&E from the show's debut in 2010 through 2023. He was known on the show by the nickname "The Gambler" for his high-risk bidding strategies on abandoned storage lockers. His son, Brandon Sheets, also appeared as a cast member until 2017.

Sheets suffered a heart attack in 2019. Afterward, he largely retired from the storage locker trade and moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he operated an antique store called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.

Sheets had previously posted on social media about his struggles with depression. In a June 2018 Instagram post, he described depression as a 24/7 battle. In a separate post, he advised others to "be kind" to people dealing with depression.

Statements from Colleagues

Several cast members of Storage Wars have made statements following Sheets' death:

  • Dave Hester stated that he learned of Sheets' death from a news outlet and that the cast is a "big family." He described their relationship as "rivals" who "respected each other," adding that Sheets "brought out the best" in him.

  • Brandi Passante posted on Instagram that she was "at a loss for words" and urged people struggling with mental health to "reach out for help."

  • Rene Nezhoda posted on Instagram that "unfortunately, Darrell Sheets took his own life." He described Sheets as "a very hard worker that cared more than anyone I've probably ever met about their family." Nezhoda also called for authorities to examine Sheets' social media claims regarding cyberbullying.

  • Laura Dan Dotson noted that Sheets had also faced health issues and relationship difficulties. She recounted that Sheets had previously expressed disbelief that someone could die by suicide, saying, "I can't believe anybody that could do that."

Surviving Family

Sheets is survived by his son, Brandon Sheets, who also appeared on Storage Wars, and his daughter, Tiffany Sheets.

Brandon Sheets posted a tribute on social media, sharing photographs of his father and describing his heart as "so broken right now." Melissa Sheets, Brandon's wife, commented that the family will cherish memories of Darrell.
