Motorola Introduces Moto Watch at CES 2026

Motorola has announced its latest smartwatch, the Moto Watch, at CES 2026. This Android-compatible wearable is stated to offer up to 13 days of battery life, integrated health tracking powered by Polar, open-source software, and dual-frequency GPS capabilities.

Battery Performance

Motorola claims the 47mm Moto Watch can achieve up to 13 days of battery life on a single charge. With the always-on OLED display enabled, the battery life is estimated at approximately seven days. These figures exceed typical battery durations reported for devices such as the Apple Watch Series 11, Google Pixel Watch 4, and Fitbit Charge 6, which generally provide one to two days with always-on displays.

Health and Fitness Tracking

The Moto Watch incorporates health and fitness functionalities through a partnership with Polar, a company known for its heart rate monitoring technology. Key features include dual-frequency GPS, which aims to enhance accuracy in outdoor location and distance tracking. This technology is present in sport-focused watches and has been introduced in the Google Pixel Watch 4, but is not featured in the Apple Watch Series 11.

The device tracks fundamental fitness metrics such as steps, distance, continuous heart rate, and sleep. Additional analytical tools include:

  • Nightly Recharge: Assesses physiological stress response during sleep and offers recovery recommendations.
  • Activity Score: Evaluates workout intensity and effectiveness in relation to user-defined goals.
  • Smart Calories: Details caloric expenditure during workouts and throughout the day, including energy source breakdown.

Wellness reminders for hydration and medication are also integrated.

Software Platform

Unlike many Android-compatible smartwatches that utilize Wear OS, the Moto Watch operates on open-source software. Specific operational details of this software platform have not been extensively disclosed by Motorola.

Durability and Connectivity

The Moto Watch features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, aligning it with the Pixel Watch 4 and providing a higher level of ingress protection compared to the Apple Watch Series 11 for outdoor use.

Standard smartwatch functionalities include:

  • Built-in microphone and speaker for wrist-based calls.
  • Bluetooth connectivity for notifications.
  • Offline music storage.

Availability

The Moto Watch is scheduled for release on January 22nd. Pricing information has not yet been announced by Motorola.
