View source

Discord has announced a new program called Nitro Rewards, which bundles access to a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass and discounts on gaming hardware for its subscribers. The initiative follows reports that Microsoft has been exploring ways to integrate third-party services with its Game Pass subscription.

Partnership Details

The partnership provides Discord Nitro subscribers with access to a starter edition of Xbox Game Pass at no additional cost. This tier includes:

  • A library of over 50 PC and Xbox games, including titles such as Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, Doom Eternal, Hades, and DayZ.
  • 10 hours per month of Xbox Cloud Gaming streaming.
  • The ability to earn up to $25 per year in the Xbox Store through a rewards program.

Discord subscribers will also receive discounts on gaming hardware from partner brands, including up to 30% off Logitech G products, up to 15% off SteelSeries products, and up to 20% off KontrolFreek products. Additionally, Nitro members will receive 250 Orbs per month, Discord's in-app currency for ad-related features.

Availability and Pricing

The Nitro Rewards benefits are available to both Discord Nitro Basic subscribers ($2.99 per month) and Nitro subscribers ($9.99 per month). According to reports, the Xbox Game Pass starter edition and hardware discounts apply to both tiers, though some sources state the Basic tier does not include these new features.

Background

Discord CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy stated that Nitro has been the largest contributor to Discord's revenue and has grown year over year. The company views Nitro Rewards as a way to increase subscriber value and retention. Discord has over 90 million daily active users.

"Having Xbox on board as a flagship partner, alongside Logitech and SteelSeries, is a strong signal of what this program can offer."

Reports from February 2025 indicated that Microsoft was exploring ways to bundle third-party services with Xbox Game Pass. Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters has also mentioned discussions about partnering on subscription bundles. Dataminers previously discovered references to a Game Pass "Starter Edition" tier on the Windows Store, which aligns with the announced offering.

Lu Zhang, senior director of product at Discord, added: "Having Xbox on board as a flagship partner, alongside Logitech and SteelSeries, is a strong signal of what this program can offer, and we’ll continue to look for opportunities to add more benefits as we grow."
