View source

The New England Patriots traded up to select Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

Lomu was the final of seven offensive tackles projected as first-round picks. The Patriots needed tackle depth behind left tackle Will Campbell and right tackle Morgan Moses, who is 35. Lomu is expected to provide quality depth and potentially succeed Moses.

Day Two Prospects

For day two of the draft, the Patriots hold the 63rd overall pick (late second round). Several players may be selected before that pick, including Cashius Howell, Denzel Boston, T.J. Parker, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Kayden McDonald, R Mason Thomas, and Zion Young.

The following players are considered realistic targets for New England:

WR Chris Brazzell II, Tennessee (6-4, 198 lbs): Possesses 4.37s speed, a large catch radius, and quickness for intermediate routes.

EDGE Gabe Jacas, Illinois (6-4, 260 lbs): Known for power as a bull-rusher and run defender. Has wrestling background.

EDGE Derrick Moore, Michigan (6-4, 255 lbs): [Pro comparison: Boye Mafe]
