Cardinals Select QB Carson Beck in Third Round of NFL Draft
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona Cardinals addressed their quarterback depth in the third round of the NFL Draft, selecting Carson Beck with the 65th overall pick.
Beck transferred to Miami last year and led the Hurricanes to the national title game.
Beck, a two-year starter at Georgia before transferring to Miami, brings a significant resume to the Cardinals' quarterback room. His career statistics are impressive: 11,725 yards, 88 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions, with a completion rate just under 70%.
Draft Context
The quarterback class saw early action with Fernando Mendoza and Ty Simpson going in the first round. However, no quarterbacks were selected in the second round, making Beck the first signal-caller taken on Day 2.
Cardinals Veteran Situation
The Cardinals' veteran quarterback group currently includes Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew.
Brissett has been absent from the team's offseason program while seeking a revised contract, creating an open competition in the quarterback room. The selection of Beck adds another strong contender to the mix.
