Germie Bernard Selected by Pittsburgh Steelers in Second Round of 2026 NFL Draft

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added a new weapon to their offense, selecting wide receiver Germie Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

"Pittsburgh felt like home."

Bernard will join the organization with a familiar face already in the building. He will reunite with offensive tackle Troy Fautanu, a former teammate at both Liberty High School and the University of Washington. Bernard noted that Fautanu served as a mentor to him during their time together.

A Collegiate Journey Through Three Programs

Bernard’s path to the NFL was anything but traditional. He began his college career at Michigan State, then transferred to Washington, and finally moved to Alabama. His transfer to Alabama came after head coach Kalen DeBoer left Washington for the Crimson Tide, bringing Bernard with him.

Bernard is the first Alabama prospect drafted by the Steelers since Najee Harris in 2021.

Joining a Star-Studded Wide Receiver Room

Bernard enters a Steelers wide receiver corps headlined by two former Pro Bowlers: DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. The addition of Bernard provides further depth to a position group already considered one of the league's most talented.

Bernard also has prior experience playing alongside Steelers linebacker Carson Bruener, having been his teammate at Washington.
