2026 BYD Seagull debuts with increased range and optional LiDAR

The 2026 BYD Seagull (known overseas as the Dolphin Mini or Dolphin Surf) made its official debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, bringing a host of notable updates.

The updated 2026 BYD Seagull now offers a maximum CLTC range of 505 km and an optional LiDAR system for advanced driver assistance.

Key Upgrades

  • Maximum CLTC range increased from 405 km to 505 km.
  • Optional LiDAR system available, paired with BYD's "God's Eye B" driver assistance.

Exterior Changes

  • New red paint option added.
  • New 16-inch wheels fitted with 175/55 R16 tires.

Sales Context

The BYD Seagull achieved a peak monthly sales figure of 34,005 units in China in April 2026. After selling 30,708 units in June 2026, monthly sales have since remained below the 30,000-unit mark. The model currently faces growing competition from rivals such as the Geely Xingyuan, Arcfox T1, and Leapmotor A10.
