BYD has revealed the third-generation Atto 3 at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, known domestically as the Yuan Plus. The compact SUV features updated dimensions, new technology, and multiple powertrain options, and is noted as the second-generation model in some reports.
Dimensions and Design
The vehicle now measures 4,665 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, 1,675 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,770 mm. These represent increases of 210 mm, 20 mm, 60 mm, and 50 mm, respectively, over the previous model.
The exterior design incorporates the brand's "Loong Face" (Dragon Face) design language. Key exterior features include sharp headlights, a chrome element between them, and semi-concealed flush-fitting door handles. Inside, the design includes barrel-shaped vents with vertical chrome ribs.
Powertrain and Battery
The Atto 3 is rear-wheel drive with a single motor and second-generation Blade battery packs. Two drivetrain options are available:
- Lower specification: 200 kW (268 hp) motor, 57.545 kWh battery, 18-inch wheels, CLTC range of 540 km
- Higher specification: 240 kW (322 hp) motor, 68.547 kWh battery, 19-inch wheels, CLTC range of 630 km
Charging and Performance
The vehicle is compatible with BYD's Flash Charging network. Reports indicate charging from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, with another stating charging from 5% to 97% in approximately nine minutes.
Cargo Capacity
Cargo capacity reports vary by source:
- 101 litres in the front trunk (frunk)
- 180 litres in the front trunk (frunk) per another source
- 750 litres in the boot (likely measured to the roof)

Assisted driving is provided by LiDAR-based DiPilot 300, and the vehicle includes a continuous damping suspension system.

Pricing and launch timing for China are unconfirmed. Export markets are expected to wait until at least 2027 for the third-generation model.
First-Generation Facelift Timeline
The facelifted first-generation Atto 3 was unveiled in China in February 2025. It went on sale in the UK in February 2026, with deliveries starting in Q2 2026. It has been approved for sale in Australia but has not yet launched locally. The facelifted first-generation model offers 230 kW/380 Nm rear-wheel drive and 330 kW/560 Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive, with a 74.8 kWh battery and WLTP range of 470–510 km.
