A livestreamed arrest in Brisbane’s nightlife district has brought a controversial online influencer into the spotlight.

Influencer "Androgenic" Arrested in Fortitude Valley, Livestreams Incident

A 25-year-old online influencer, known as Androgenic, was arrested by Queensland Police in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, shortly after midnight on Sunday, April 26. The arrest was broadcast live on the platform Kick.

Arrest Details

Police approached Androgenic at approximately 12:30 a.m. in Brisbane's nightlife district. The arrest was related to an earlier incident at a Hungry Jack's restaurant on April 18. Androgenic was issued an infringement notice for public nuisance and banned from the Fortitude Valley nightlife precinct for 28 days.

Interaction with Security

During the arrest, Androgenic was accompanied by his own security personnel. According to reports, his security guards requested that officers hold him rather than handcuff him, a request to which the officers agreed.

Background

Androgenic is known online as an influencer who provides advice on attractiveness. He is associated with the "looksmaxxing" subculture, which advocates for extreme beauty enhancement methods, including techniques such as "bonesmashing" to reshape facial features, as well as promoting plastic surgery and peptides.

Response

According to 7NEWS, efforts to contact Androgenic for comment were made. Yves Saint James Aquino of the University of Wollongong commented on the subculture, stating:

"It's dangerous in as much as any kind of body modification is dangerous."
