US Navy Intercepts Russian Vessel Transporting Iranian Oil in Arabian Sea
On Saturday, April 25, US naval forces intercepted the Russian vessel Sevan in the Arabian Sea, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney (DDG 91) conducted the operation, deploying a Navy helicopter. The Sevan is one of 19 vessels sanctioned by the US Treasury Department for transporting Iranian oil, gas, propane, and butane.
The vessel is currently under US military escort and has been instructed to return to Iran. CENTCOM stated that the US military is enforcing a blockade of all vessels entering or leaving Iranian ports.
As of the report, US forces have diverted 37 vessels since the operation began.
