Apple has announced a new subscription option for App Store developers, allowing customers to pay for services on a monthly basis while committing to a 12-month term. The feature is available for developer setup and testing now and is scheduled to launch to users worldwide in May, except in the United States and Singapore.
Subscription Model Details
The new option enables developers to offer monthly payment plans that require users to agree to a 12-month commitment. Customers can view the payment structure and cancellation terms before committing. If a user cancels during the term, monthly payments will continue for the full 12-month period, but the subscription will not renew after the committed payments are completed.
Users can see the number of completed and remaining payments in their Apple Account. Apple will send email and push notifications to remind users of upcoming renewal dates.
Developers may use this model to offer discounted rates in exchange for predictable, long-term revenue.
Availability and Setup
- Developers can configure the subscription option in App Store Connect and test it using Xcode.
- The feature will become active on the App Store with the release of iOS 26.5 next month (May).
- The feature supports the following operating system versions: iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, macOS Tahoe 26.4, tvOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4 or later.
- At launch, the feature will be available worldwide except in the United States and Singapore. Apple has not provided a reason for these exceptions or a timeline for their availability.
Background
