DJI Launches Mic Mini 2: A Refined Take on Ultra-Compact Audio
DJI has officially unveiled the Mic Mini 2, the updated version of its smallest wireless microphone system. While the core design remains familiar, several key refinements and a significant missing feature define this new release.
Design & Customization
The new system introduces a fresh aesthetic with customizable, swappable magnetic covers. These covers, available in a variety of colors, are sold separately. The transmitters are slightly larger and 1 gram heavier than the original Mic Mini, a minor trade-off for the new features.
Pricing & Availability
The Mic Mini 2 is priced competitively, starting at €59 for a single-microphone bundle and €99 for a dual-mic bundle that includes a larger receiver. Currently, the system is not available in the United States but is on sale in most other global markets.
Performance & Battery
- Battery Life: The transmitter offers an impressive 11.5 hours (with ANC off), while the receiver lasts 10.5 hours.
- Range: Users can expect a maximum transmission distance of over 1,312 feet (400 meters).
The Missing Feature
The single most notable omission is the lack of on-microphone recording.
For creators who require internal backup recording to prevent audio dropouts, this remains absent. DJI has teased that a "Mic Mini 2S" version, featuring on-mic recording, is currently scheduled for a release in summer 2025.
