Jacqueline Falk, Adopted Daughter of Peter Falk, Dies by Suicide at 60
Jacqueline Falk, the adopted daughter of legendary actor Peter Falk, died by suicide on Monday. She was 60 years old.
Los Angeles — According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner's Office, Jacqueline Falk hanged herself in a Los Angeles home. It remains unclear whether she left a note.
A Life Out of the Spotlight
Jacqueline and her sister, Catherine, were adopted by Peter Falk and his first wife, Alyce Mayo, in the 1960s. Unlike her famous father, Jacqueline largely remained out of the public eye throughout her life.
Her sister Catherine later worked as a private investigator and became an advocate for legislation regarding familial visitation rights after becoming estranged from her father.
Peter Falk's Legacy
Peter Falk was best known for his iconic role as Lt. Columbo in the long-running television series. He died in June 2011 after a battle with Alzheimer's disease.
His personal life included two marriages: to Alyce Mayo from 1960 to 1976, and later to Shera Danese from 1977 until his death. Danese became his conservator in 2009 during his struggle with the disease.
