Homelander Kills Firecracker in The Boys Season 5

In a shocking turn of events, Firecracker meets a gruesome end at the hands of Homelander.

"We always knew he was going to kill Firecracker, maybe as long back as when we introduced the character."
— Eric Kripke, Series Creator

The Scene

In Season 5, Episode 5 of The Boys, Homelander kills Firecracker by pushing her head into a golden eagle statue, impaling her brain. The death is both sudden and visceral, marking a pivotal moment in the season.

The Allegory

Series creator Eric Kripke has stated that the character Firecracker was conceived as an allegory for former President Trump loyalists. Her death was planned from the moment of her introduction.

The Narrative Purpose

Kripke explained that the death scene serves a specific thematic purpose:

"The death illustrates that no amount of loyalty to Homelander is enough."

According to Kripke, Firecracker had an opportunity to do the right thing in the episode but did not. Her failure to act on that opportunity ultimately sealed her fate. The narrative shows Homelander demanding ultimate allegiance, leading to Firecracker's compromise and eventual demise.
