Tragic Shooting in Carrollton, Missouri

A 75-year-old woman was fatally shot in her home, and the suspect is a cousin of "Summer House" cast member West Wilson.

Gayle R. Wilson, 75, was fatally shot in her home in Carrollton, Missouri, on the evening of April 22. Dakota Sweeney, 28, a first cousin of "Summer House" cast member West Wilson, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Incident Details

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 22. Wilson's father, who is the suspect's step-grandfather, identified Sweeney as the suspect after reportedly witnessing the shooting.

According to an affidavit from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Sweeney and Wilson had argued earlier that evening over Sweeney not helping with household chores. Court documents allege that after the two had been sitting on separate couches in the same room for approximately 30 minutes, Sweeney shot Wilson in the head "without warning."

Sweeney lived with the victim at the time of the incident.

Background

Gayle Wilson previously worked as a blackjack dealer and had hobbies including sewing and stained glass making. Wilson's father and the suspect's mother are stepchildren of Gayle Wilson.

West Wilson is a cast member on the Bravo reality series "Summer House." The shooting occurred one day before Wilson and his castmates were scheduled to film the show's season 10 reunion. The reunion is set to air on Bravo on May 26.

Legal and Public Response

It is not known whether Sweeney has legal representation. Bravo, which handles publicity for West Wilson, did not respond to a request for comment.
