City's Otto Fires Up Ahead of Derby Semifinal

Melbourne City defender Taylor Otto has added extra spice to the upcoming A-League Women semifinal against Melbourne Victory, drawing on her experience in some of football's most famous rivalries.

"Whenever you get to a team, there's always just one team that the club just doesn't like... It has nothing to do with the players. It's the club."

Otto, who has previously played for North Carolina (vs. Duke), Celtic (vs. Rangers), and now Melbourne City, made it clear that her new club views Victory as its primary enemy.

A League with "Top League" Potential

Beyond the derby fire, Otto offered a measured assessment of the A-League Women's future, stating the competition is "competitive from top to bottom."

"This could be a top league that competes with major leagues in the world," she said, pointing to the need for greater investment. Otto highlighted the importance of retaining Matildas stars and attracting top overseas talent, saying the league could realize its potential "if they can really take advantage of those things... and be able to pay them to keep them here."
