Wollongong Drone Drug Delivery Ends in Crash and Arrests

Police in Wollongong arrested two men after a drone carrying methamphetamine crashed into a building.

A drone carrying 66 grams of methamphetamine crashed into a building in Wollongong, leading to the arrest of two men.

The Incident

On Tuesday, shortly before midnight, police responded to reports of suspicious activity in Corrimal Street, Wollongong. Officers found Kayd Simpson, 24, and Joshua Dendulk, 43, allegedly hiding inside a unit.

The drone was found in the unit, carrying a green dog waste bag containing 66 grams of methamphetamine.

Drug Delivery Attempt Fails

Police allege the men used the drone to deliver drugs before it crashed into the building. The crash alerted authorities to the operation.

Both men were charged with supplying more than an indictable quantity of drugs, entering enclosed land, and possessing drugs.

Court Appearance

They appeared in Bail Court on Wednesday and were refused bail. The men have not entered pleas and are scheduled to reappear in court in May.

Subsequent Search Uncovered More Evidence

A subsequent search of a Cliff Road unit, modified with metal and deadbolts, uncovered a baton, an electronic stun device, 42 grams of methamphetamine, and $4,350 in cash.
