ABC Renews Two Comedy Series for 2026-27 Season
ABC has officially picked up two comedies for the upcoming season: The Scrubs revival has received a second-season order, while Shifting Gears has been renewed for a third season.
Both renewals were based on strong ratings performance.
The Scrubs revival aired nine episodes in its first season. Shifting Gears aired ten episodes in Season 1 and thirteen in Season 3. Episode counts for the upcoming seasons have not yet been announced.
One scripted series remains undecided: R.J. Decker
The freshman drama procedural R.J. Decker has not yet been renewed or canceled. Its chances are currently described as "50-50."
The show has lower linear ratings compared to its lead-ins Will Trent and High Potential—both of which have been renewed—but has performed well on Hulu.
Pilot update
The network's comedy pilot, Do You Want Kids?, will not move forward.
