Google Expands ‘Preferred Sources’ Tool Globally
Google has announced the global expansion of its Preferred Sources tool to all supported languages, effective from the second half of 2025.
Previously limited to certain regions and languages, the feature now enables users worldwide to designate specific news outlets and websites to appear more frequently in Top Stories on Google Search.
The tool, accessible at google.com/preferences/source, aims to give users greater control over the news they see, allowing them to prioritize sources they trust or prefer.
According to Google, users who mark a site as a preferred source are twice as likely to click through to that site.
As of the announcement, over 200,000 unique sites have been selected by users, ranging from local blogs to global news organizations.
