Artemis II Crew Surprises Young Space Fan with Signed Spacesuit

Jack, a 5-year-old boy from Atlanta, arrived at a CBS News town hall on May 1, 2026, wearing a white spacesuit. He left with something even more special: an orange spacesuit signed by the entire Artemis II crew.

Mission specialist Christina Koch presented Jack with the signed suit, which matches those worn by the astronauts. During the presentation, Koch asked Jack to join their team—and he happily accepted.

“I’m obsessed with space,” Jack told CBS News.

Jack had previously attended the Artemis II launch in Florida. For the town hall, he wore a spacesuit bearing the rank of commander, prompting a CBS News reporter to nickname him “Commander Jack.”

Jack’s mother expressed deep gratitude to the crew, noting that her son has been profoundly inspired by the Artemis II mission.
