Matty Johns Invited to UFC Freedom 250 at White House
The event will feature a 2,000-seat arena on the South Lawn, with half the seats reserved for US military personnel.
Matty Johns, former Australian international rugby league player, has received an invitation from UFC founder Dana White to attend UFC Freedom 250 Fight Week on June 14, 2025, at the White House South Lawn. The event coincides with US President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.
Johns plans to bring a gift for Trump, stating he is considering asking his brother Andrew for a signed Newcastle Knights jersey. Johns interviewed White for Fox Sports in Las Vegas in March, after which White gave him a tour of his home. Subsequently, the UFC extended the invitation.
Accreditation for attendees will be confirmed only days before the event. Johns will conduct interviews alongside Alexander Volkanovski for Fox Sports during the lead-up.
Siosifa Talakai to Join Perth Bears
Cronulla Sharks player Siosifa Talakai has signed a three-year contract with the Perth Bears starting next season.
Talakai said the decision to leave the Sharks was difficult, and he was close to tears when informing coach Craig Fitzgibbon.
Talakai allowed an initial contract offer deadline from the Bears to pass before eventually accepting. He cited limited salary cap space at the Sharks as a factor in his decision.
