A C-27J Spartan military aircraft made an emergency landing at Longreach Airport in Queensland's Central West on Sunday after smoke was observed onboard.
The aircraft departed from Darwin and was en route to Brisbane. Smoke was reported to emergency services just after 1:00 PM, and the plane landed safely at Longreach Airport at approximately 1:20 PM.
Multiple fire crews and an ambulance were dispatched to the airport. The Queensland Fire Department reported that no visible fire was present and no extinguishing action was required.
An electrical fault, potentially from the onboard microwave oven, is believed to be the cause. The oven has been isolated and tested.
The Australian Defence Force has been contacted for comment.
