Isack Hadjar Disqualified from Miami Grand Prix Qualifying
"We made a mistake and we respect the decision of the stewards." — Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies
Miami, FL — Isack Hadjar has been disqualified from qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix after his RB22 was found to breach Article C3.5.5 of the FIA Formula 1 regulations. The left-hand side and right-hand side floorboards exceeded the permitted dimension by 2mm.
The FIA stewards confirmed that the team did not dispute the findings. As a result, Hadjar will start Sunday's race from the pitlane.
A Shift in the Starting Grid
Hadjar initially qualified ninth. That position now goes to Pierre Gasly, with Nico Hulkenberg joining him on the fifth row.
Team Statement
Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies stated: "We made a mistake and we respect the decision of the stewards. No performance advantage was intended nor gained from the error. We will learn from this incident and assess our processes to understand how it occurred and to take steps to ensure it cannot happen again."
A Tough Weekend
Hadjar also failed to score points in Saturday's sprint race after qualifying ninth.
