Mike Tyson praised David Benavidez's performance after he defeated Gilberto Ramirez by sixth-round stoppage on June 15, 2024, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Benavidez moved up from light heavyweight to cruiserweight and won Ramirez's WBO and WBA cruiserweight titles.
Ramirez was knocked down for the first time in his career in the fourth round, then suffered a swollen right eye leading to the stoppage. Tyson, watching ringside, stated, "Great fight. He fought great tonight."
Canelo Alvarez also attended the event; Benavidez has repeatedly called out Alvarez.
