Heart surgeon warns ultra-processed foods increase health risks

Dr. Jeremy London, a cardiovascular surgeon with 25 years of experience, has issued a warning about ultra-processed foods.

He highlights that these industrially manufactured products contain additives and little real nutrition, and cites research showing a 10% increase in ultra-processed food consumption correlates with a 10% increased mortality risk.

Dr. London states that these foods can negatively affect glucose metabolism, increase inflammation, and disrupt the gut microbiome.

NHS doctor Chris van Tulleken has commented that ultra-processed foods are a leading cause of early death.

The British Heart Foundation recommends a Mediterranean-style diet with minimally processed foods to lower heart disease risk.
