Apple Testing New Watch Faces for Upcoming watchOS 27
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is testing multiple new watch faces for watchOS 27, code-named "Orchid."
The most notable of these is a simplified version of the Modular Ultra design, intended to bring the aesthetic of the high-end Apple Watch Ultra to standard Apple Watch Series models.
The design aims to "bring the Ultra look to standard watches with reduced density while still providing at-a-glance information."
Key Features of the New Simplified Watch Face
- Large Clock Display: The face features a large clock occupying the top two-thirds of the screen.
- Reduced Complications: A row of three smaller complications is positioned below the time display.
- Removed Elements: Unlike the original Modular Ultra, this version removes:
- The option for a large center complication
- Three smaller complications above the time
- Bezel information
WatchOS 26.5 Update Coming This Month
Separately, watchOS 26.5 is expected to include a new Pride Luminance watch face.
Gurman indicated that this update will be released by the end of the current month.
