Kid Cudi Removes M.I.A. from Rebel Ragers Tour After Controversial Onstage Remarks

May 4, 2024

In a swift decision announced via Instagram, Kid Cudi has removed M.I.A. from the opening slot on his Rebel Ragers Tour. The move comes just days after a controversial onstage monologue during the tour's stop in Dallas, Texas.

The Incident

During the May 2 concert, M.I.A. addressed the crowd with remarks that drew significant backlash. Among her statements, she declared:

"I never thought I would be canceled for being a brown Republican voter."

She also referenced her song "Illegal," warning the audience: "I can't do 'Illegal,' though some of you could be in the audience."

Kid Cudi's Response

Following the performance, Kid Cudi stated that he had specifically instructed his management to ensure no offensive content would be included in the performances on his tour. After receiving multiple complaints from fans—and in light of the Dallas incident—he decided to remove M.I.A. from the lineup entirely.

Tour Continues with Revised Lineup

The Rebel Ragers Tour, which kicked off on April 28 in Phoenix, Arizona, will continue as scheduled. Big Boi will now serve as the opening act at all remaining dates. Additional support comes from A-Trak, Me N Ü, and Dot Da Genius, who will perform at select shows moving forward.
