Comedian’s Video Condemned as ‘Cruelty Dressed as a Joke’

South Australia's Commissioner for Aboriginal Children and Young People, Dale Agius, has publicly criticized a now-deleted social media video posted by comedian Alex 'Shooter' Williamson.

The video depicted an imagined phone call between the parents of Kumanjayi Little Baby and the man charged with her murder, Jefferson Lewis.

"This was not comedy," Agius said. "It was cruelty dressed as a joke, and racism disguised as humor."

The Commissioner commended the Willunga Football Club for deregistering Williamson as a player. The club released a statement declaring the comments were "unacceptable and do not reflect the club's values."

Agius urged calm and respect for the grieving family and community.

Jefferson Lewis, 47, has been charged with the girl's murder.
