Rolling Stones Unveil Foreign Tongues at Brooklyn Press Event
The band announced their new album Foreign Tongues just hours before the event, alongside the lead single "In the Stars."
The Rolling Stones held a press event at the Weylin in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, hosted by Conan O'Brien, to promote their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues and its lead single "In the Stars." The event featured a Q&A session with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ron Wood.
Notable Guests and Atmosphere
Notable guests in attendance included Leonardo DiCaprio, Christie Brinkley, Andrew Watt, and Odessa A'zion. The session included humorous remarks but offered few major revelations. Technical issues were noted throughout, particularly with Keith Richards' microphone technique, which made his responses partially inaudible—at one point, O'Brien had to hold a microphone near Richards' mouth.
Album Details
The music video for "In the Stars" features a de-aged Mick Jagger alongside Odessa A'zion. Drummer Charlie Watts, who passed away in 2021, appears on the track "Hit Me in the Head," recorded in Los Angeles. Steve Jordan plays on the remaining songs, as recommended by Watts before his passing.
Four of the 14 album tracks predate the Foreign Tongues sessions, including one featuring Paul McCartney, who visited the studio while working next door. The Cure's Robert Smith contributed backing vocals after meeting Jagger in a London studio.
"We recorded it in four weeks at Metropolis Studios in London," Jagger said, describing the space as a small room that facilitated a good sound.
Tour Status
No tour plans were announced. The band has not performed live in nearly two years, and no live performances were scheduled during the promotional appearances.
