Dalby Stabbing: Man in Serious Condition After Random Park Attack
A 23-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed while walking through a park in Dalby, Queensland, on May 7, 2026.
The Attack
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM on a footpath in a local park. The victim was walking alongside a group of women, one of whom was pushing a pram. A 46-year-old man allegedly approached the group, acted aggressively, and pulled out a knife. Without warning, he slashed the victim twice in the left arm, causing severe lacerations.
The Aftermath
The alleged assailant immediately fled the scene. The victim’s family members rushed him to Dalby Hospital. Due to the severity of his wounds, he was later airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in serious condition.
The Arrest
Police located the 46-year-old suspect approximately five kilometers away from the crime scene, on Oakwood Street North, at around 4:00 PM the same day. He was arrested and charged with one count of grievous bodily harm. He was scheduled to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on May 8, 2026.

- No Prior Confrontation: Police have stated they do not believe there was any prior argument or fight between the two men.
- Unknown Relationship: While initially believed to be strangers, police are investigating the possibility of a prior connection between the victim and the suspect.
- Weapon Still Missing: The knife used in the attack has not been recovered.
- Drugs Ruled Out: Investigators have found no information linking the incident to drugs.
