WA Government Raises Stamp Duty Threshold for First Home Buyers

The Western Australian government has increased the stamp duty exemption threshold for first home buyers from $700,000 to $800,000, effective immediately. The change, announced hours before the 2026/27 State Budget, is the third such increase by the government.

The policy is expected to cost $297 million and provide savings of up to $22,515 for buyers of new or established homes, and up to $25,390 for those building a home.

Homes priced at $600,000 or less will incur no stamp duty, while concessions apply up to $800,000.

The First Home Owners Grant cap has also been raised from $750,000 to $800,000, maintaining a $10,000 grant for eligible buyers.
