A 46-year-old woman from Mackay has been arrested and charged with the murder of 71-year-old Wayne Pedro Morseu, who was reported missing in November. She faces one count of murder and one count of interfering with a corpse.
The woman and Mr. Morseu were known to each other and had been in a domestic relationship, according to Mackay regional crime coordinator Detective Superintendent Darren Shadlow.
Mr. Morseu was reported missing on November 10. His disappearance was described as out of character. In March, police stated they believed he had been killed in his home months earlier, before his body was moved. His body has not been found.
Superintendent Shadlow said police have spoken to more than 120 witnesses and seized more than 100 pieces of evidence. He reiterated that police are still seeking information regarding the location of Mr. Morseu's remains.
The woman is scheduled to face Mackay Magistrates Court.
