Game Native Adds Lossless Scaling Multi-Frame Generation for Android PC Emulation
Game Native, the app that enables PC game emulation on Android, has integrated support for Lossless Scaling's multi-frame generation technology. This AI-driven feature creates interpolated frames between rendered ones, boosting frames per second (fps) while potentially increasing input lag.
How It Works
The feature requires Lossless Scaling, available for $7 on Steam. Users are prompted to purchase it when enabling the feature.
Frame generation is activated on a per-game basis, allowing users to adjust the FPS multiplier and flow scale (image quality). A performance mode using a lower-accuracy model is also available.
Performance Gains in Testing
In internal testing, The Last of Us Part 1 on a phone achieving 30fps saw doubled frame rates to 60fps with 2X mode. The 3X mode reached 80fps, and 4X mode achieved up to 100fps, though with potential AI artifacts and increased input lag.
Implications for Gaming
The technology may make high-end PC games playable on less powerful phones or improve smoothness. The effect on battery life was not discussed, but using frame generation could allow lower settings for power savings while maintaining higher fps.
