At CES 2026, Xreal introduced multiple new augmented reality (AR) products, including an updated entry-level model and a gaming-focused device developed in collaboration with ASUS's ROG subsidiary. Both new products are available for immediate purchase, while the gaming model is scheduled for release in the first half of 2026.
Xreal 1S Entry-Level Glasses
Xreal announced the Xreal 1S, an updated version of its Xreal One model originally released in late 2024. The glasses are designed to connect via USB-C to compatible devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and gaming consoles. The device projects a virtual screen to the user, with typical viewing sizes reported at 171 inches, expandable to approximately 500 inches depending on user focus.
Key specifications for the Xreal 1S include:
- Price: $449, a reduction from the $499 price of the Xreal One.
- Display Resolution: 1200p Full HD, an upgrade from 1080p.
- Field of View: 52 degrees, expanded from 50 degrees.
- Brightness: 700 nits, increased from 600 nits.
- Aspect Ratio: 16:10, adjusted from 16:9.
- Refresh Rate: 120Hz.
- Connectivity: Reinforced USB-C port.
- Accessories: Includes a new travel case.
Real 3D Feature
The Xreal 1S incorporates a "Real 3D" feature, utilizing the device's X1 spatial computing chip to convert 2D video content into 3D without requiring external applications or proprietary players. This feature will also be made available to Xreal One Pro owners via a software update. In demonstrations, the 3D effect was observed during gameplay of Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch 2, showing added depth. When applied to YouTube videos, the effect varied in quality, with functional results noted for panoramic or car-related videos, while certain content, such as K-pop boy band performances, occasionally displayed visual discrepancies in the upscaled 3D choreography. Users can enable the 3D effect via settings for content from platforms like YouTube, Netflix, or Plex.
Note: Reports note that individuals sensitive to motion sickness may need to consider this factor for extended 3D viewing sessions.
Xreal Neo Dock and Battery Accessory
Xreal also launched the Xreal Neo, an external battery and DisplayPort hub. The device features a 10,000mAh power bank designed to extend the operating time of the glasses.
The Neo offers improved connectivity for Switch consoles, eliminating the need for the console's dedicated dock when used with the Xreal glasses in portable settings. The Xreal Neo is available as a standalone purchase priced at $99.
ROG Xreal R1 Gaming AR Glasses
Xreal announced a collaboration with ASUS to develop a new series of ROG-branded AR glasses designed for gaming. The ROG Xreal R1 glasses are now available for pre-order on the Xreal shop and at Best Buy, with sales beginning May 17 on the company's website.
Key specifications for the ROG Xreal R1 include:
- Price: $849.
- Refresh Rate: 240Hz, with a 0.01ms response time.
- Display: 1080p micro-OLED panels.
- Field of View: 57 degrees, creating a 171-inch virtual screen from four meters away, covering 95 percent of the viewable area.
- Brightness: Peak brightness of 700 nits.
- Audio: Sound by Bose.
- Tracking: Native 3 DoF anchor mode, allowing users to either anchor the virtual screen in a fixed position or follow head movements.
- Tint Levels: Three levels via electrochromic lens technology.
ROG Control Dock
The ROG Xreal R1 includes the ROG Control Dock, which is described as bulky. The dock features two HDMI 2.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 port, and a built-in signal switch for swapping display sources.
The dock enables connection with devices like the Nintendo Switch 2, while PCs and other hardware can plug directly via USB-C. The glasses have an adjustable comfort-forward design and feature an LED strip on the stem.
Context and Comparisons
The ROG Xreal R1 is priced at $849, higher than Xreal's $649 One Pro glasses. The Xreal 1S is priced at $449, which is $50 less than the previous One model. Reports note that higher resolution (1440p or 4K) micro-OLED panels are currently scarce.
Xreal AR glasses are designed to project a larger, private screen from connected devices, distinguishing them from smart glasses that prioritize cameras and integrated AI assistants, such as Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
The Xreal 1S supports Xreal’s modular Eye camera, an optional accessory for capturing point-of-view photos or videos.
