Audi has revealed the interior of its upcoming Q9 SUV, a full-size luxury model set to become the brand's new flagship.

The vehicle is scheduled for a full unveiling on July 29, 2026, with sales expected to begin later that year. Australian market arrivals are projected for late 2027.

The Q9 is positioned as Audi's largest and most luxurious model, competing directly with the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Primarily aimed at the US and Chinese markets, the SUV arrives as Audi's A8 limousine recently ceased production, marking the Q9 as the brand's new flagship.

Interior Features

The cabin includes several notable features detailed by Audi:

  • Seating: Available in a six-seat configuration with two individual, electrically adjustable second-row seats, or a seven-seat configuration. All seats are electrically adjustable, and the second-row seats are heated and ventilated.

  • Doors: Electrically operated opening and closing, a first for Audi. Operation is controlled via the key, the myAudi app, the MMI system, the brake pedal, or the seatbelt buckle. Sensors prevent the doors from opening if an obstacle or insufficient space is detected.

  • Display System: Three digital screens for front occupants: an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen angled toward the driver, and a 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen. Climate controls are integrated into a touchscreen strip at the base of the main display.

  • Panoramic Roof: A standard 1.5-square-meter panoramic roof with a UV-light-resistant coating and switchable transparency.

  • Audio System: A Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system with headrest speakers.

  • Lighting: Multicolor ambient LED lighting encircling the cabin, and a "dynamic interaction light" feature that can sync with audio output.

  • Interior Materials: Seat trim options include genuine Nappa leather, alpaca wool, and microfibre. Materials are chosen to limit glossy, fingerprint-prone surfaces. Inlay options include 'ash natural', silk beige, and carbon-fiber weave.

  • Cargo & Practicality: External roof rails with included roof racks. Aluminum side rails with adjustable anchors in the boot area.

  • Storage: A center console featuring two wireless charging pads, two USB-C ports, and cupholders for large bottles.

Powertrain and Platform

Specific powertrain details have not been confirmed. Audi has stated that engines are expected to include a V8 with some form of electrification. The Q9 is expected to be closely related to Porsche's upcoming flagship SUV, codenamed 'K1', and is believed to use the PPC architecture.

Pricing

Pricing has not been announced. Analysts have estimated the starting price will be near or above £100,000.
