Galaxy Ring 2 Delayed: Samsung Pushes Launch to Improve Battery Life
The next-generation smart ring won't debut alongside Samsung's foldable phones this summer.
According to a new report from ETNews, Samsung has decided to delay the launch of the Galaxy Ring 2. The wearable was widely expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Wide in the summer of 2025, but those plans have now changed.
“Samsung is delaying the wearable to improve battery life and reduce thickness and weight.”
The core motivation for the delay is performance-focused. Samsung is reportedly aiming to boost the battery life of the Galaxy Ring 2 to 10 days, up from the 7 days offered by the current-generation Galaxy Ring.
To achieve this, the company is exploring silicon carbon battery technology, a newer, more energy-dense chemistry that could allow for greater capacity without increasing size. Additionally, Samsung plans to optimize the internal placement of components—a method previously employed in the Galaxy S25 Edge and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.
This strategy aims to solve two competing challenges: increasing longevity while making the device thinner and lighter.
The original Galaxy Ring launched alongside Samsung's 2024 foldable devices. For now, the company is prioritizing internal refinement over a quick follow-up launch. The report cites unnamed industry sources for the information.
The Galaxy Ring 2’s new launch date remains unconfirmed.
