Samsung Galaxy S24 Explodes in South Korea, User Suffers Burns

Seoul, South Korea – A Reddit user in South Korea has reported that their Samsung Galaxy S24 exploded while in use on May 11, 2026.

The Incident

The user stated the device was not charging at the time of the incident, had no prior drop damage, and had never been repaired. The explosion resulted in minor burn blisters on the user.

Official Response

Fire department responders who examined the scene found evidence consistent with a lithium battery ignition.

Samsung’s Response

Samsung has not yet issued a public comment. However, a local service center director contacted the user after being instructed by Samsung headquarters. The company is expected to investigate the device.
