Volkswagen has launched the ID. Polo GTI, the first electric vehicle to carry the GTI nameplate.
The powertrain features a 166kW/290Nm electric motor driving the front wheels. It achieves a 0-100km/h time of 6.8 seconds and a top speed of 175km/h.
The battery is a 52kWh (net) NMC unit, delivering a WLTP range of up to 424km. DC fast charging supports up to 105kW.
Performance equipment includes an electronic front differential lock, 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/40 tires, adaptive sports suspension, and progressive steering.
Exterior styling receives a sportier front bumper, red grille stripe, side sills, rear diffuser elements, and GTI badging.
Interior details feature red stitching, sport seats, a red 12 o'clock steering wheel marker, and an illuminated GTI button.
Pricing and availability: In Germany, pre-sales began in autumn 2024 with a starting price of under €39,000 (A$63,400). Australian availability has not been confirmed.
